Stay Alive! Keep Screen Awake is an app that lets you keep your device's screen turned on at specific moments. For example, you can configure the app so that your screen stays on while using GPS or while using a specific app.

In the settings options, you can choose exactly which apps you want to include in the list of exclusions. Once you're in the list, the screen will never turn off or lower the brightness while the app is running in the foreground.

When you activate Stay Alive! Screen Awake, you'll see a lightning bolt symbol in the notification bar. When you open the notification bar, you can alternate between the three modes with a simple tap: keep the screen on while charging, always keep the screen on, and deactivate the app.
